Travis Ellison when did you start rapping                          DJ Doctor Jaye I started writing music at the beginning of 2000 I was 13 turning 14.                                                 Travis Ellison who were your musical influence growing up.                                                                              DJ Doctor Jaye my favorite artists was Hot Boys, Tupac, Jay z, Nas, Mary J Blige, Beanie Sigel, and State Property.                                                                                  Travis Ellison what made you choose rap over any other music genre.                                                                 DJ Doctor Jaye when I was 11, my grandmother tried to convince me to join the choir to sing more often I was to shy to sing. when I started writing raps I took that and ran with it.                                                               Travis Ellison how would you describe your rap style.    DJ Doctor Jaye my style is lyrical because I love lyricism diversity and creativity. I'm often described as a gospel biggie smalls.                                                                           Travis Ellison you do gospel rap what inspired you to choose that route.                                                                  DJ Doctor Jaye though I've been approached  numerous times about rap ministry I didn't accept until 2007 when my youth pastor from New Orleans invited me to record music with his group, the camp.     Travis Ellison your also a man of God how important is God to you.                                                                          DJ Doctor Jaye because I know what it's like to be in both lanes, it's really important for me to stay close to God.up until now I never got to many opportunities in the music ministry or life even though I live for God I wouldn't wanna make my life worse by not keeping God first.                                                                                  Travis Ellison when did you give your life to god.              DJ Doctor Jaye I gave my life to the Lord about a year after my home town New Orleans was destroyed by Hurricane Katrina. that was my wake up call.                    Travis Ellison what does your music represents.              DJ Doctor Jaye: my music represent life, truth, stories and love the way God intended.                                          Travis Ellison what can fans take from your music.          DJ Doctor Jaye : anyone who listens to my will know that no one is perfect but God gives us the strength to live and move forward. also they will know that being a believer does not mean your life will be boring. we can rep Christ and have our fun we just have to be more respectful and pleasing to God in how we live.                 Travis Ellison how many projects you put out to date.   DJ Doctor Jaye: due to start of my new ministry, inspiremix movement creative, I'm in the state of relaunching my music. last year I released history hall 21. it's a best of me protect, featuring music I worked on from 2007-2021 I will soon be working on new music for my 2022 project and because I'm also a DJ now, I will also be releasing different mixtapes.                Travis Ellison any one you wanna work with that you haven't worked with.                                                              DJ Doctor Jaye : it will take me a while to think of all one person I can name right now is Dee-1 he's from the same area I'm from ( New Orleans) East I actually met him in Galveston, TX on memorial day weekend 2021. we only had a short conversation because it was such a rough day at that time. hopefully I can meet him again and we can talk more.                                         Travis Ellison what kind of legacy you wanna leave.         DJ Doctor Jaye: Musically I wanna be remembered as a DJ, artist and show host who's always about love and unity. I've never been the cliqueish type. it doesn't matter who you are or what team you run with, I'm always willing to work with folk. as for ministry, the word says he who win souls is wise. (Proverbs 11:30) we can't force people to follow God but if I'm able to encourage folk to be close to him then it's a blessing to me.
