T.Ellis : How was life your life growing up in the UK ?                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                        Perfect Pete : It was cool. I was born in 1975 (hence the C75 part in C75 Live) and grew up through the 80s and 90s.No phone cameras or social media You could do what you wanted without it being on permanent record haha.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                    T.Ellis : What part of UK you grew up in ?                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                      Perfect Pete : I grew up in Cannock in the West Midlands. Quiet town not far Birmingham.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                T.Ellis : How did you get into Hip Hop ?                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                Perfect Pete : Just hearing rap music in the charts mainly. A friend of mine at school introduced me to a lot of music later on too. Birmingham and my dad's home town of Wolverhampton have a big black population so there were plenty of record stores and events.cassettes used to have liner notes with Thank You sections where rappers would shout out other rappers so I'd go and listen to their music and so on.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                   T.Ellis : What encourage you to start rapping ?                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                   Perfect Pete : I've always been a fan of wordplay, double meanings etc, so I started writing my own raps and freestyling just for fun.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                   T.Ellis : How long have you been doing music ?                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                              Perfect Pete : I didn't release any proper tracks until about 2013. Until then I just did open mics. I used to do graffiti on clothing and sell it and started doing pieces for rappers so sometimes I'd ask if they'd drop a verse and they did. Mainly as cross Promotions for the clothing but eventually the music took over.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                            T.Ellis : What's your latest single ?                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                    Perfect Pete : 'Word To Popa' is my latest single. It's from an album im doing called 'PPXBB'  which is fully produced by the late BigBob (RIP). We were in the beat selection process when he passed and, apart from a tribute track I did, Its taken me a few years to get round to putting something together.                                                                                                  The single stems from a conversation I had with Popa Wu before he passed about Wu affiliates They were clamping down on a lot of fake affiliates but since hes passed everyone seems to be claiming that affiliation again.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                          T.Ellis : How many singles you have out ?                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                              Perfect Pete : Im always dropping side projects singles in between albums. Experimenting with different beatmakers. I try and use them as an opportunity to reach different audiences and often try something different musically.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                 T.Ellis : You have any albums out ?                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                         Perfect Pete : Yes,a few as Perfect Pete and a lot under my previous name Cuban Pete.All my albums are available on all platforms and at www.perfectpete.hiphop.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                       T.Ellis : How big is Hip Hop in the UK ?                                                                                                                                                                                                                         Perfect Pete : Its big. There's a different audiences tho. You've got mainstream,more underground 'real Hip Hop; and sub genres like grime/drill/etc.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                 T.Ellis : What does Hip Hop mean to you ?                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                         Perfect Pete : Peace, love, unity, having fun, artists, skills, competition, fresh, fly,and bold.Fans, and some artists, seem so segregated sometimes.like they cant listen to an unless they've lived the same exact life they have (In their head anyway) when I got into Hip Hop I loved hearing about other people's experiences and what made them who they were.Being different and original was celebrated more.But I guess society has changed Everything is pidgeon holed into little boxes and labeled more now.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                         T.Ellis : Your independent ?                                                                                                                                                                                                                                               Perfect Pete : Yes, I've got my own imprint C75 live, which is a loose knit collection of artists that work together. you can find out more at www.c75live.com.                                                                                                                                                                                                       T.Ellis : Where do you see yourself in two years ?                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                         Perfect Pete : I'm working on gettingmore/better promo cos as times change the old ways aren't the same.so hopefully still me just with a slightly bigger buzz.
