What We Do at Maya Da Bee LLC

I am NOT a professional
I am NOT a professional Poet.

I am NOT a professional Christian.

I am NOT a professional human.

What this signifies is that I am NOT perfect, and I choose to share what I can and want rather than stress over what I believe are people's high expectations of me. I aim to go as far as God allows in life with this passion, but my mental health is priority number one over a life driven by 'business'; therefore, I am NOT a professional in that sense. Poetry is my therapy, and I simply share it with the world. That's why I started mayadabee.com.

I am a Mother, Wife, Poet, Activist, Online Open Mic Host, FORMER police officer, and Army veteran residing in Dallas, TX. Traveling is a joy of mine. I advocate for mental health and speak out against social injustice based on my personal experiences, both past and present. I firmly believe that poetry is therapy and should be expressed without any filters; that's why my spoken word is raw truth. I am NOT a professional, and my intention is to create a platform where anyone can be heard without the interference of 'professional politics.'

Online Open Mic
Struggling with mental health and finding solace in reciting my poetry on stage, I conceived the idea of an online open mic that emphasizes 'safe space hosting' rather than merely performing. This initiative has significantly eased my social anxiety while allowing me to support others who may not yet be ready to take the stage but are gradually becoming comfortable expressing themselves through spoken word. My virtual stage is open to everyone, whether it's their first time or they are experienced performers. You can learn more about our community here at mayadabee.com, where poetry meets therapy in a supportive environment.

For My Babies
No matter how many other pieces I write, this will always be my FAVORITE because it's FOR MY BABIES. Every mother and father struggling with mental health can relate to this! I may be a nobody to you, but I'm a somebody to somebody!

Find your Lifeline
I believe that everyone needs a lifeline or several to stay accountable and maintain their will to live. For some, this may come from God. As a Christian, I relate, but if I'm being honest, it’s my kids, my poetry, and my belief that suicide is the only unforgivable sin that keeps me grounded—avoiding the thought of hell, which is my personal choice for motivation. In a world where thoughts of mental health can be overwhelming, finding your unique lifeline is crucial. Whether it involves engaging in therapy, exploring spoken word, or embracing whatever supports you—find what keeps YOU here! Visit mayadabee.com for additional resources on mental health and poetry to help you on your journey.

STAY
I know I love Poetry. Everything is poetry even death but don't kill yourself to be poetic. It's harder to STAY; it's harder to live one more day to create. You matter so just wait. Remember, it's never too late to STAY ...

My Stop Smoking Poem Journey (Temporarily on PAUSE 😩)

Can I get a cigarette? It's been 3 days since I've stopped smoking I'm not joking I really wanna cigarette I'm hurting, freaking out over here jerking Want me to stop talking about it but it's the jist of my day Didn't even know it til it was taken away Day 4 tryna concentrate, frustrated, okay I'm a practice what I done spoke and invoke the pen when I want the smoke...
Gimme the smoke... I got this, One less trip to quiktrip and 10 bucks still in my clip

Gimme the smoke.... I got double the craving Feels like my lungs got the white flag waving like let's do this gimme the juice I need that nicotine with the energy boost

Gimme the smoke... You putting me on the spot ain't gotta lot to say I'm just feening okay Damn I wanna cigarette ain't nobody around to poach Thinking about getting nasty and looking on my ground for a roach (for you non smokers that's a discarded 🚬 that can still be relit 😂)

Gimme the smoke... Ain't you tired of wanting a cigarette? Nope! Does a crackhead stop thinking about dope? He just sick with the hope

Gimme the smoke... Like to puff after I eat, Never cared for dessert cuz the nicotine was the sweetest treat. That menthol flavor I can taste the hit Oh my God yo I wanna cigarette

Gimme the smoke... Can't sleep I need that midnight nicotine I got that late snack feen Can I get a cigarette please?

Gimme the smoke... I want some frosted puffs for breakfast, A small high for my fix to get this new day started off ample I don't run on coffee I run on Camel... Menthol

Gimme the smoke... I gotta light but no stick What I'm suppose to do now with all these Bics? Sitting sad on my patio hallucinating with each thumb click I use to chain smoke while I'd write out my next spoken word hit now I'm just outside writing without gagging and shit

(Working on some new poems when I get an itch too but I'll keep spitting these little verses every so often)

Well shit got real, I fcked that up and took that smoke let's start again I'm only human 🤷🏽‍♀️

I promise I'm gonna start this again I had bought a full pack from when I relapsed and couldn't just smoke one and crush the rest of that 🤦🏽‍♀️ Man I'm really an addict hiding this pack from my hubs He doing good tho and I ain't lied to him but if he looked at his wife's website then he'd know 😂🤣😭

Gimme the smoke...Back hurt, head hurt, feeling like shit...really wanna cigarette but I guess it's a bar I gotta spit. One week smoke free I started over again I'm a make it this time can't catch me slippin
